The Minnesota Chorale, led by conductor Kathy Saltzman Romey, presented an afternoon concert to comfort and uplift the soul, featuring Ralph Vaughan Williams' moving Five Mystical Songs, along with inspiring hymns and songs by American composers Jocelyn Hagen, Steve Heitzeg, Stephen Paulus, Frank Ticheli, Gwyneth Walker, and Dale Warland. The concert included the U.S. premiere of two selections from Stephen Chatman's Songs of Remembrance, along with the final movement of Alzheimer's Stories, written by composer Robert Cohen and librettist Herschel Garfein on the personal narratives of families affected by Alzheimer's.
This concert concluded the Chorale's 2012 Bridges program, presented in partnership with Allina Home & Community Services, which used music to enrich the lives of elders with memory loss or impairment.
